83 original ways to successfully waste your time

adidas+diesel denim collection campaign

The unconditional approach to individuality and expression shared by both brands is presented in the first Originals Denim by Diesel below-the-line campaign to celebrate both authenticity and originality. The general concept behind the different campaign executions is the expression of “83 original ways to successfully waste your time.” It presents playful, inspiring ways to celebrate originality by encouraging open and uninhibited self-expression. 83 inspirations will serve as an invitation for the public to share their ideas inside adidas Originals stores, online and at different events.

COLLECTED MONTREAL STORIES

As part of the city exploring process I started with the Potholes poster series, I went on a new hunt for Montreal stories worth telling.

In order to retrieve parts and bits of my city, I spent a day walking its streets with wide sheets of paper and retracing found objects and textures like , bike wheels, nails, electric cords, pieces of toast. The result: you can wear a part of montreal.

POSTER SERIES + NEW AWARD AND EXHIBITION

My Nids-de-Poule poster series has just been selected by the Hong Kong Heritage Musem to be exposed at the 2007 Hong Kong Poster Triennal and to be featured in their catalogue. The trienal opens on November 24th.

This poster series is part of a collective creation and exhibition celebrating Montreal's nomination as a UNESCO city of design. I akways thought that beauty and the sense of unique lays within the citiy's imperfections (if anything, its potholes are at least as impressive as it 1976 olympics) So asphalt became for a few weeks my canvas for ephemere urban interventions that surprised passers-by, offuscated a few landlords, annoyed people stuck in traffic and generated quite a buzz amongst design afficcionados.

The medium used was actylic based paint, applied directly onto the asphalt, and it lasted for about 4-5 weeks.

LES CHAISES : modular couch

My first furniture collection, SIT! by SID, for Perez will be launched this weekend in NY during ICFF. Here are some great shots of the whole furniture series (art direction Roxana Zegan//photographer Dana Dorobantu/location Coléxion Perez showroom)

«Les chaises» is a comfortable poem about seating, a work of geometry and typography.

LUV UR ASS : modular couch

“No other body part has had the world’s best designers dedicate so much of their work and imagination to. From Frank Lloyd Wright to Mies Van der Rohe and Philipp Starck, great minds put their creativity into giving the Ass the ultimate accommodation. This couch sums up our fascination with it, from pure aesthetics to obscenity and beauty standards to colourful vocabulary. In a ludic yet comfortable metaphor - Be it wide, tight, square, pear shaped or industrial size, LOVE YOUR ASS!"

7 modules, originally designed for Sid Lee's bistro and revised for Perez.

THE STAINS : 2 poufs

Created for Perez, and ready to be launched this weekend at ICFF New York, these 2 poufs are nothing more than a cynical statement for the neat-freaks. In the context of perfect shapes, sophisticated materials, and the purest shade of white, the urge of a color accident is an artistic catalyst.

LOST OBJECTS pillow series

My humble and minimalist ode to all those little objects we loose in the cracks and folds of our couches...sometimes they stuck to pillows, sometimes they just vanish without a trace.

Mars et Avril

Mars et Avril est un photo-roman moderne, hybride et débridé.

Fugitive love, collective unconscious and parallel dimensions are shaping the narrative content, enriched by the evocative power of images. In this book, graphic design does not only establish cohesion between text and images, it is a language in itself, which participates to tell the story. The detailed, intricate line work of the drawing operates in a harmonious partnership with the author's finely crafted writing, and the engaging pictures.

À la poursuite du fantasme is written by Martin Villeneuve. Photography is by Yanick Macdonald and graphic design by Roxana Zegan. The book is published by Les Éditions de la Pastèque, in collaboration with the agency Sid Lee in Montréal, and was launched on October 16th, 2006.
